One of the benefits of working in Petra is the opportunity to get to know the people who live there. Arabs are noted for their hospitality and nowhere does a visitor experience finer hospitality than with the bedouin of Petra. During six seasons of fieldwork at Petra (1994-1998, 2001), I have worked closely with many from the local Bedoul and Amareen tribes as well as those from the town of Wadi Musa, and have had a chance to get to know many of their families. The following photo exhibits are dedicated to these wonderful people as my way of thanking them for their hard work and friendship. |
